This website was first published in July 2009. It's purpose is to forge stronger links with members and to expand our membership which from 217 members in December 2008 has increased to 485 members in April 2014. Three overseas Branches have been formed in Australia, New Zealand and North America. Our network of contacts is fast growing around the world. Anyone who is an ex-cadet, senior student or staff member of Warsash is eligible to join. If that includes you please submit your Membership application online now and you will receive a very warm welcome. We guarantee you'll be delighted to hear from former colleagues you knew at Warsash or whilst serving at sea.
This community website was built for us by ocProducts using its Content Management System called Composr CMS developed by its MD Chris Graham. Chris and his team are at the age we WA members were when serving as 3rd and 2nd Officers at sea. The great strength of using Composr is that it offers a large range of functions and features which are totally integrated. These functions include members only access, forums, galleries, newsletters, event calendars and online payments.
ocProducts was recommended to the WA Committee by one of our members acting as consultant, after extensive research and evaluation of similar products offered by more than a dozen companies.
Throughout the project ocProducts demonstrated a high degree of professionalism and great technical expertise. Its highly co-operative approach and prompt response to suggestions has contributed greatly to a superb website tailored to our needs.
This initial development was completed within our own fairly relaxed timescale and to a fixed-price budget in June 2009. The website is maintained on a day to day basis by ourselves using Composr's CMS dashboard. ocProducts provides second line support when required. ocProducts do our major enhancements including upgrade to ocProducts v9 in April 2014 and again to Composr 10 in October & November 2020. The site also underwent and extensive modernisation from December 2020 - May 2021. Further updating of content and development of applications to assist administration continue throughout 2021.
