Terry Glad you enjoyed the articles. We have a list of companies to feature prepared in advance and you'll see each next company mentioned in John Downs' Editors Messages. Although you've missed your particular company's feature I bet you have an urge to write something for All Hands! Could be associated with Warsash, your apprenticeship, any service at sea, hobbies, anything you've done at any time. I never cease to be amazed at the diversity of expereinces ex-Warsash cadets have had - must be a vast source of anything from truth to tall tales out there! I'm afraid the pay's not up to much good the prestige is huge!
Thank you for your Port Line Memories many similar experiences to my own. Peter Isherwood reminded me of our visit to Novorosisk on the Port Macquarie and I can authenticate his story. After 10 years with Port Line then Transport Ferry Service/HC Sleigh/Westminster Dredging/ACTA Shipping and Captain Cook Cruises(Sydney Harbour) I have now retired and plan to move to Queensland soon-after 46 years in Sydney. Regards to all.
In 1954 a film was made at Warsash, by whom I do not recall but not the BBC. At the time I was JLC Port 5 and we preformed the Sunset Ceremony for the film. Unfortunately there was a problem with the sound recording and the orders of the Guard Commander, myself, had to dubbed in at a later date. As I, for some reason was not available, another Cadet Guy Ashby, I think, did the dubbing. The Bugler was EGL Small. Does anyone have any information of this film and who made it and what happened to it. Peter Small (SmallP54)
I am really enjoying these photographs. None of us cadets ever had the resources or time! They are very evocative. It is a lot of work digitising them I know. Thank you very much - it is appreciated. Kindest regards, Julian Lillico (57)
Julian Very glad you're enjoying the photos. As you say not many of us had the where withall (or allowed time) to take photos which is a great shame. John's doing a great job digitising, my part's the easy bit - uploading. I could pass on your comments however would you like to post them in a Forum all can read (only staff can see them here). I suggest Forum/ Notice Board/ Gallery would be a good place. Kind regards - Chris
