Did you realise you can email any online member from the website? Emailing is done from the member's Profile. You therefore first need to load up his/ her Profile as follows.

Names database search (this is as easy to use as Google)

  1. On the home page click the large picture link "Tracing Others" (or in the drop-down menu in the banner hover over "Contents" then slide down to "Database").
  2. Fill in the appropriate selection criteria e.g. Surname = Smith, and other boxes if required e.g. "Year left Warsash", "Country".
  3. Click the "Search Content" button.
  4. In the list of matching member's accounts which is displayed find and click on the appropriate Username.
  5. The member's Profile will appear on your screen.

To email the member

  1. Scroll down to near the bottom of the Profile page and click on "E-mail member". This generates an email form.
  2. Complete the form (boxes marked * are compulsory) and press the "Send" button.
The website sends your message to the email address stored discretely on the member's account.

To narrow down selection when using the database search function enter all known data in the selection boxes. For example "Surname" = Smith and "Year left Warsash" = 1961 will list all Smiths in 1961.

Several boxes (e.g. "Country") provide a small "V" symbol to the right. When clicked this causes a list to pop up from which to select the content so you don't have to key it in.

When doing successive searches check there is nothing which does not apply leftover in the boxes from the previous search.
